If only Freud was around

I dreamed I was in a car accident last night.  Not anything major, just didn't brake soon enough and ran into the back of a car containing a woman, her child, and their dog.  I didn't have my license with me, but my friend suggested that I use a milk carton instead.

Other news - one of my LJ friends with great music taste posted this Sonic Youth cover of the Kinks' "Victoria."  One of my favorite songs, which I'm sure has nothing to do with my name.

I love it when I get in randomly happy moods.  Ok, not so random.  Good things in my life right now:

• Great internship at Georgians For Choice, where I get to work with ridiculously nice, intelligent people.  It kind of makes me want to work in non-profits the rest of my life despite the fact that I will never have any money.
• My high school calculus teacher is going to be on Jeopardy on Friday!
• Ted Leo is playing Variety March 31st!  And he was quoted in the New York Times today.  Although he kind of says he was misquoted now.
• Speaking of vegan hotness, we had the BEST Emory Vegans and Vegetarians meeting today.  A TON of people came, and everyone seemed really enthusiastic and had great ideas.  I love meeting decent people at Emory, it gives me so much hope in life.  I've had so much grief about being here over the past few years, and although I'm not ready to say this is where I'm supposed to be, and yes, some days still suck terribly, overall it's turned out about as well as I can hope for.  I know great people, I'm getting a fantastic education, and Atlanta, with all its problems, is far from the worst place in the world.  And if I had somehow ended up at the liberal art school of my dreams, being in debt for the next few years of my life probably wouldn't be worth it.  It's nice knowing that I can spend the next few years out of college working at non-profits, or Americorps, or backpacking around the world, or even going to grad school without worrying about some huge financial burden.

Hissing Fauna Are You the Destroyer

various songs to play over and over and over again, a kind of infatuation.  Their new single, "Heimdalsgate like a Promethean Curse," is terribly addictive.  And the video, directed by the Brothers Chap of Homestarrunner, is probably the most amazing thing I've seen this year.  My favorite parts are at 1:05 and 2:34.

They're playing at Variety on February 24th, and I still need to buy tickets.  It will be my third time seeing them, and I think the only other bands I've seen three times are the Pixies and, of course, Ted Leo.

It's amazing how emotional physics makes me

Learning about how small and insignificant we are....I know it's cliche, but it's very hard to believe in an afterlife when we came from plain old matter.  It seems like human consciousness is just a fluke.

First day of the internship today.  Everyone who works there seems really nice, and it makes me want to pursue some career in a nonprofit.  Ever since I decided what to do in life, things seem a lot easier.  It's nice to have direction...however, it's not nice being so exhausted all the time.  I really need to start exercising, I could use the energy. 

I thought this article about a Clarkston soccer team was the best thing I read all weekend.  Until, of course, I saw this.
